Here are a few basic rules for everyone to abide by. They were written by someone with no legal experience whatsoever, which is sort of the point: we want everyone to go home happy, without the need to involve any lawyers.

(1) By default, all content listed on Honor System Records is assumed to be copyrighted with broad exceptions for personal use. At a minimum Honor System Records and it's customers agree that they will not republish the work they acquire here commercially, for financial gain, or without proper attribution to the artist responsible for the work without their consent. If an artist wishes to specify additional parameters or an alternative license on their submission form they may do so. Provided the license isn't incompatible (ideologically or practically) with our services, the work will be posted with the license details included on the product page.

(2) Copyright holders who submit content agree not to pursue litigation against Honor System Records for any copyright infringement that occurs as a result of their voluntary use of Honor System Records' services, except where Honor System Records violates clause (1).

(3) The password is vanhalen.

(4) Copyright holders who submit content agree not to pursue litigation against customers of Honor System Records for any copyright infringement that occurs as a result of their voluntary use of Honor System Records' services, except where those customers violate clause (1).

(5) By submitting content to Honor System Records, you represent that you hold all applicable copyrights and/or licenses for that work. Any misrepresentation in this regard may result in the content in question being removed, and our full cooperation with any investigation of the matter. Anyone who violates this clause assumes full responsibility for any liabilities that follow.

All personal financial data is handled off-site by PayPal, and is governed by PayPal's privacy practices. We never receive any information you submit through PayPal's site. We do, in theory, have access to the following information:

• The e-mail address you submit to have a product or sample sent to you
• All information submitted by way of the Submission form
• The IP address you use to connect to the HSR torrent tracker, and your upload/download activity while connected
• Any information you include in your profile or postings on the HSR forum (note that the forum may place a cookie on your computer)

However, we make no deliberate effort to preserve or compile such information, except as a byproduct of functions necessary to the operation of the site. We do not and will never sell personal information.

Additionally, any artist you send payment to will receive the name, e-mail, and shipping address associated with your PayPal account. While we can't guarantee what they'll do with that information, we trust that it will not be abused.
